The Tamworth story
Tamworth is the major commercial centre of northern inland NSW. Situated on the Peel River, the city is located almost midway between Brisbane and Sydney. The city had a population of approximately 60,000 in 2016. It was the first locality in the southern hemisphere to have electric street lighting and has been known as Australia's Country Music Capital since the late 1960s and hosts the biggest music festival in the nation every January.
